EBARA Hatakeyama Memorial Fund (EHMF) provides technology-related assistance to regional communities overseas on a non-commercial basis. The fund was founded in 1989 in honor of the late Seiji Hatakeyama, then President of EBARA CORPORATION, and follows his belief that EBARA must co-exist and prosper along with regional communities.

Mission

  • To establish amicable and lasting relationships with regional communities in the world,
  • To meet particular needs of such communities and to assist in the development of appropriate technologies, and
  • To excel as a prominent member of the world's corporate society.

Activities

The EHMF is applied to activities on the income generated from an endowment of EBARA CORPORATION. Activities are summarized as follows:

  • Sponsoring of seminars, short courses and workshops for technology transfer featuring EBARA's accumulated expertise,and
  • Assisting in the development of small-scale technologies.

The number of educational programs sponsored by EHMF has reached 218 by the end of March,2011. More than 10,000 participants have benefited from this sponsorship. These programs have been planned and managed co-jointly with regional universities and other educational institutions in 17 countries.
Courses offered include those on pump applications, fluid machinery, renewable energies, and environmental engineering fields. EHMF is also sponsoring courses on effective management of liquid and solid waste residuals, energy conservation responding to the need for environmental conservation in various regions.

Assistance in Technological Development

EHMF is extending assistance for technological development of appropriate equipment for localized areas, including development of gravity utilizing hydraulic energy driven pumps, Micro hydro power generating unit, self-aspirated aerators, portable water purification units, and others.
