EBARA CORPORATION
Award Ceremony
EBARA CORPORATION (“EBARA”) newly added the EBARA Award to the International Exhibition for Young Inventors (“IEYI”) organized by the Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation (“JIII”). From October 23 to 25, the 15th IEYI took place at Indonesia Convention Exhibition in Tangerang, west of Jakarta, and 140 works by 257 students gathered from 11 countries※. Fourteen Japanese students participated and presented their inventions.
1. Background
IEYI has been held since 2004 with the purpose of supporting young people around the world to develop their creativity and global awareness through the exhibition and competition for their inventions. Students who excelled at the “All Japan Students Invention Exhibition,” the “Future Science Dream Art Exhibition” and the “National Boys and Girls Challenge and Creation Contest” hosted in Japan by JIII participated in IEYI. EBARA advocates the idea and created the EBARA Award. We will l continuously support children who takes on challenges aiming to be higher.
2. Outline of the Award

| Reasons for Award: | ・Invented a way to reduce damages for the earthquake-prone country where he lives ・Unique idea of using bamboo as construction material for the building and a permanent magnet and springs for the damping materials ・Logical explanation |
3. Future Developments
For more than 100 years since its foundation, EBARA has been engaged in business that contributes to the areas of water, air and the environment. Regardless of age, motivation to invent and develop something that will make a better society and a mindset to challenge are associated with EBARA’s DNA. EBARA provides pumps and other products and services, and will continue to support engineers who will play a central role in the next generation.
4. References
The first IEYI was held in Japan agreed by nine participating countries back in the first time. The next IEYI will be held in Kazan, Russia, in 2020.
