The EBARA Group strives to create a recycling-oriented society and contribute to the conservation of the global environment through technology and products while working to reduce our environmental footprint. In pursuit of these goals, we establish and maintain an Environmental Management System.
The Environmental Control Committee decides the policy for environmental control activities and environmental conservation activities of the EBARA Group. To promote smooth and efficient activities, the Environmental Management Promotion Section of EBARA Corporation serves as the secretariat and operates in cooperation with other offices, districts, and companies.
The Environmental Management Promotion System is structured with environmental conservation of business hubs, such as offices and districts and their surrounding areas (horizontal axis), and product and services-related environmental conservation (vertical axis). The Environmental Manager Meeting, with those responsible for environmental activities at the Company, district and office-level acting as members, serves as a venue to lay down specific policies and make activity plans for the entire EBARA Group, and to discuss issues and measures related to the Environmental Management System while sharing information between the two axes.

The EMS certification of the Environmental Engineering Company is included in Ebara Environmental Plant Co.Ltd.'s.
The EMS certification of the Suzuka District is included in EBARA FAN & BLOWER CO., LTD's.
Group companies engaged in activities with significant environmental impact such as manufacturing acquire their own ISO 14001 certification.
The EBARA Group conducts environmental management under the ISO 14001 standard. 26 companies of the EBARA Group have attained ISO 14001 registration as of June 1, 2021.
Environmental auditors perform a threefold environmental audit to check compliance with environmental laws and regulations, implementation status of preventive measures against environmental pollution, and the progress of promotion of environmental management activities.

Construction of new production or welfare facilities or the restoration or removal of such facilities may cause various environmental impacts such as waste, vibrations, and noise. At EBARA, we proceed with construction by performing a threefold check at the construction planning stage of facilities: we assess environmental impact at the stages of installation and operation, and check legal compliance with environmental laws and the Industrial Safety and Health Law.
The EBARA Group has a responsibility to prevent environmental pollution associated with various business activities and to provide environmentally responsible products to customers. In order to do so, we must ensure that all employees have a very high awareness of the surrounding environment and how their actions impact it. We will accomplish this by ensuring all employees have access to a range of environmental education, and all environmentally-relevant personnel take the necessary trainings To determine and review the educational content, we have established an Environmental Education Committee under the jurisdiction of the Environment Control Committee (see Environmental Management System). The Environmental Education Committee creates not only general environmental trainings but also offers education specific to each business segment.
In addition, we offer expert environmental education on topics such as waste risk management and recent revisions to laws and regulations conducted by the Environmental Management Promotion Section. Environmental Education is a high priority at Ebara, because we believe that by “fostering a high environmental awareness” and “offering timely education regarding rules and required knowledge” we can ensure complete environmental management to prevent accidents and contribute to environmental conservation.

EBARA Corporation issued these Green Procurement Guidelines in November of 2003. At EBARA, we believe it is one of our responsibilities to provide products and services that contribute to the important social issue of environmental conservation. In order to fulfill this responsibility we must reduce the burden the creation of our products places on the environment as much as possible. We acknowledge that not only must we take action on a company-level, but we must look at our entire supply chain and ask our suppliers’ to work with us to promote the procurement of green raw materials. To accomplish these goals, EBARA Corporation does the following.
We promote product designs with care for the environment and conduct green procurement in accordance with the procurement specifications derived from the design pursuant to the design guidelines for the environment, internal standards of EBARA.
We set Requests to All Suppliers in light of environmental considerations for all suppliers that provide products to EBARA.
We purchase stationery, office machines, and OA/IT equipment that is eco-friendly. In addition, we execute green procurement considering social concerns such as FSC certification given to products made from sustainably-managed forest resources.
We choose suppliers based on the results of the Suppliers' Environmental Management Survey, in addition to price, quality, and delivery period.

We at EBARA are dedicated to the protection of biodiversity in our environment. We implement the “Ebara Group Biodiversity Guidelines” and develop awareness about the importance of biodiversity through engaging our employees with experiences in nature and in-house education.
Ebara Group believes that the conservation of biodiversity is one of our social responsibilities and have implemented the following guidelines.
We consider the conservation of biodiversity an important management issue and make an effort toward conservation.
We promote employee awareness of the importance of biodiversity conservation through opportunities such as environmental education and experiencing nature.
We seek to gain a better insight into the relationship between corporate activities and biodiversity and reflect this insight in the Group's drive to conserve biodiversity.
We contribute to the conservation of biodiversity through corporate activities that are guided by the principles of resource conservation, energy conservation and biodiversity-aware outsourcing.

The EBARA Group contributes broadly to society by providing excellent technologies and the best services in the fields of water, air and the environment. In recent years, interest in water risks has increased due to the effects of climate change and other environmental issues causing more and more flooding, droughts, or other water-related disasters.
In 2018, we conducted a water risk assessment for sites with annual water usage of 1,000 m3 or more. For evaluation, we used AQUEDUCT version 3.0 published by the World Resources Institute (WRI). Water risk was evaluated at 41 sites in Japan, China, Indonesia, The Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Korea, Italy, The United States, and Brazil.
