Business Segments and Strengths
Fluid Machinery & Systems Business
The Fluid Machinery & Systems Business is EBARA’s largest business segment accounting for around 60% of net sales.
It is composed of three businesses, namely the Pumps Business, Compressors and Turbines Business, and Chillers Business.
The Pumps Business primarily handles custom pumps used in infrastructure such as water supply and sewerage systems and power stations, as well as standard pumps used in office buildings, condominiums, and the like.
The Compressors and Turbines Business's main products are compressors and turbines used in facilities such as petrochemical plants.
The Chillers Business’s focus is chillers and cooling towers used in cooling and heating equipment of office buildings and large-scale commercial complexes.
Strengths
The strengths of the Fluid Machinery & Systems Business as a whole are its product development that takes full advantage of the four core technologies, its network that stretches across the globe, and its ability to respond to diverse market needs.
EBARA has been manufacturing pumps and other industrial machinery for over 100 years. Our core technologies cultivated through our history of "monozukuri" (manufacturing) have formed the strength that underpins the entire EBARA Group.
Another strength of this business is that it has built a strong network to send the products we have developed out into the market, including our network of sales distributors and partnerships, through which it provides sales, service, and support.

Environmental Plants Business
This business conducts the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of environmental plants.
As Japan’s population has declined, waste emission volumes have been decreasing. However, shrinking local government workforces have meant that a greater range of operations is being outsourced to the private sector. This trend is contributing to the gradual growth of this segment.
In recent years, contracts won from private-sector companies for power generation facilities that use biomass and other alternative fuels have contributed to stable profits.
Strengths
The strength of the Environmental Plants Business is that it has built integrated frameworks that extend from design, procurement, and construction to operation, management, and maintenance, to provide safe and secure total solutions.
EBARA is able to achieve a continuous and unique spiral-up of technological strengths and on-site capabilities through this integrated framework and functional facility design, which leverages the expertise EBARA has built through its history.

Precision Machinery Business
The Precision Machinery Business has been performing particularly well in recent years, due to strong capital investment in the semiconductor industry, our main customers.
Our main products include dry vacuum pumps, which create the vacuum state required for the semiconductor manufacturing process, and CMP systems, which enable nanometer-level flattening by polishing wafers that form IC chip substrates.
Strengths
The strengths of the Precision Machinery Business are its ability to respond accurately to the demands of the semiconductor industry for high-level manufacturing technology and to the rapid pace of technological innovation, as well as its provision of better service and support that leverages advanced technologies.
In addition to our core technologies of precision rotating machinery engineering and processing technology, EBARA offers highly flexible customer support and develops products to meet our customers’ requirements. An example of the high regard in which we are held by our customers, we have received the Excellent Performance Award for seven consecutive years from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Limited (TSMC), one of the world's largest semiconductor manufacturers. (As of FY2018)
